I am looking for anyone who knew Helen Victoria Jorgenson, between the years 1953, to 2000. Helen was born in Saskatchewan Oct 10th, 1930. I believe that she was in Edmonton from January 1st 1955 until March of that year, when she spent some time in the Buelah Home. After that and until April of 1956 I'm not sure if she returned to Saskatchewan. She was in Edmonton in April of 1956, at the Royal Alex hospital. I don't know if she went back to Saskatchwan then, or stayed in Edmonton. I do know that she was in Edmonton in 1961, I have reason to believe she never left after being there in 1956. Or if you have any information on Roy McCrae,I would appreciate any information, on either. Please contact me. Thanks

GILRIE/GREEN, ALBERTA, 1901-?, - I am searching for information on the family of Ann (Green) Gilrie (1850-1940) who was born in Ontario but was living at Stony Plains, Alberta by the mid-1920s. She was living with one of her children. Her husband was Henry Walsingham Gilrie (born 1849). I would like to know his date of death and what became of the family. One son, William Walshingham Gilrie (born 1882) married to Edna May and apparently lived in Alberta. Another son, Edgar, was born in 1885 and may have lived in the west. Any information would be greatly appreciated. If there was an obituary for Ann (Green) Gilrie I would love a copy (she died on January 18, 1940).

I'm a UK citizen trying to find if I have any family left anywhere in the world. My father's brother had a farm (ranch?) the postal address of which was Edmonton. My cousin (his son) visited us at the beginning of WW2 as part of the Canadian Expeditionary force but as I was only 9 years old at the time his first name hasn't stayed in my memory! His surname was Bishop of course and I guess my uncle would have been in his fifties at that time like my father. Sorry this is so vague, put it down to my own advancing age. Perhaps you could direct me to any sites that would have details of the inhabitants around Edmonton in the first half of the twentieth century. Thanks, Ed Bishop

LYMAN, Edmonton, Summer 1939 to Mid-Spring 1940. Sometime during the summer of 1939 my father Lewis Allen LYMAN (now deceased) was dating a young woman whose name is unknown to me. She gave birth to a child, possibly male, sometime during mid-spring 1940. Sometime during the pregnancy this woman contacted my grandmother Elizabeth LYMAN who was living in New Westminister, BC. She again made contact after the baby was born and my grandmother shipped her a bundle of baby clothes. I do not know what happened to the mother of the child or if the child was adopted out. My father was very vague in his recollections of this occurrence although he did say the woman had dark hair and might have been cooking in a lumber camp during that summer. If anyone has any knowledge of this event please contact me.

MICHAYLENKO, EDMONTON, 1911-1919 I am trying to find my grandfather, Sam Michaylenko, who apparently lived in or around Edmonton between about July 1911 to 1919. According to family history he married my grandmother, Annie Muma/Mucha/Muha in Edmonton during that period. Sam also had a brother who probably lived in Edmonton as well. If anyone has run across any trace of either name I'd appreciate hearing from him/her. The name Michaylenko is very rare, and may have been a misspelling of Michalenko. I am unaware of any records from Edmonton of that period that could be searched. If there are any, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction. Thanks. Bill

WENNERSTROM, Eric and Mary, CALGARY - I am searching for the whereabouts of Eric and Mary Wennerstrom, last known address Calgary in 1988. Mary's mother was a sister to Joseph Fudali and Victoria Dzingielowski. Eric and Mary had traveled through Poland in 1988 and had corresponded with some of my family in Saskatchewan regarding this trip. I was hoping that Eric and Mary are still alive or that their family members would communicate with our family and help us fill in some of the missing parts of our family's history in Poland. Mary's aunt Victoria Dzingielowski (Fudali) was married to my great uncle Chemyk (Sam) Dzingielowski. They had four children. I am hoping to obtain the names of these children to be able to contact them if they are still in Poland or if they have relocated elsewhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FUDALI, JOSEPH, PEACE RIVER area of ALBERTA - I am searching for relatives of Joseph Fudali, who in approximately 1928 would have immigrated to Canada with John Deynaka (spelling??) to the Kelstern, Sasktchewan area and worked for a time for Joseph and Sophia Dzingielowski. Jospeh Fudali's sister Victoria married Chemyk (Sam) Dzingielwoski and they had four chidlren in Poland, 3 daughters and a son named Metek or Metik. Sam was taken from their home by the German soldiers in 1939 or 1940. Possibly Joseph Fudali also had a brother Yatsik who married Franchyska (Frances) Dzingielowski. What I would hope to gather from your reply would be the names and or contacts of these people's families in Poland as Joseph Dzingielowski was my grandfather and Chemyk (Sam) and Franchyska (Frances) would be my great uncle and aunt. My family has had no contact with any of these people since the early 1960s. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would help fill in some of the blanks in our family history. Please contact me at g.deobald@sasktel.net

I am trying to locate my little brother. His birth name is John Roland Smalley, also called Johnny. May have had his last name changed, possibly to Gilbert or Rodriguez. He was born in Miami, Florida, at Jackson Memorial Hospital. On March 1,1983. Our parents names are Mary Ann Smalley, her maiden name was Porter. Our father is Glenn Allen Smalley, Sr. John moved to Canada when he was about 3 years old, with the woman who raised him as his mother, Diane Rodriguez/Gilbert. She has a boyfriend by the name of Nelly, (Nelson) and they have children together, also are raising Diane's younger brother who is handicapped. Diane was once married to Peter Rodriguez. Who raised John as his father when he was a baby before Diane left to Canada and they were divorced. Diane has a sister named Cathy/Kathy. (Cathy's last address was in St. George Est. Quebec G5Y4L9) Also Diane's mother was Lucette Gilbert, I may have misspelled her first name, she was killed by a car in 1996 or 1997 (I believe these are one of the years). I am the oldest, my name is Missy Corrales. My maiden name is Smalley. Missy is my nickname. Here are the names of all the siblings of John. Missy Corrales, Vicki Smalley, Glenn Smalley, Michelle Smalley. he was the 4th child. I am looking for him because I miss him dearly, I have made countless attempts to remain in contact with him through Diane but I do not believe she ever gave him anything I sent through all these years. I am not even sure he knows she isn't really his biological mother. Nor do I even know if he knows of his sisters and brother. Any help locating him would mean the world to me! And I hope a chance to meet the brother I. Love & lost. Thanks! My email addresses are: mzl0ca@aol.com (the 0 is a zero above) xloca420x@yahoo.com Vicki's email are : ghettokissez@yahoo.com voodoo_luv25@hotmail.com Much Love and Thank You for Reading, Missy Corrales and Vicki Smalley PS I was told by Diane last I heard from her he was dating and living with his girlfriend Valerie. Please if you are a member of the family or friend please help me. tks. Marion

HIRD, Edmonton, 1913 I am seeking help with finding Henry Somerville HIRD (or spelling variants) Born Dunnichen, Forfarshire, Scotland 1851 We believe he went to Canada to join his son Lawrence S HIRD then near Wainwright around 1912. Another son Charles HIRD was also in Alberta. Think Charles died in Wainwright in 1967. Alberta family historians have helped us find a possible burial .... I quote 'You will find H. Hird, buried in the Edmonton 7th Avenue Cemetery Sept 10, 1913. The Alberta Genealogical Society database indicates that this is H.S. Hird, and that his plot was purchased by the Mason Lodge #8 on Feb. 8, 1911.' Is there any more information available which will confirm he is our man? and why would the masons purchase the burial plot especially 2 years before his burial? If this is not Henry Somerville HIRD do you have any other suggestions on how we can find his death. We are familiar with Scottish sources but struggling as we learn to use Canadian ones. AMny thanks Robin

I run, manage and maintain a strictly Canadian adoption related website. One of the pages in my site deals directly with orphanages/homes/institutions all across Canada. I do have several listings for Alberta that may be of assistance to those searching for lost loved ones. There's not a lot of info, mostly just names of the organization, but I am working on trying to get as much info about as many orphanages as I can. I would like to get a name and at least the years of operation, a contact name/address would be great as well. If anyone could supply any info for orphanages not listed on my site, that would be great!! The direct link to the orphanage page is http://www.geocities.com/teesac1968/Orphanages/Orphanages.html

EDWARDS, Dono LeRoy, Lacombe, Alberta 1910-1964. For many years my family have been attempting to locate the natural birth parents of my grandfather. I do not know their names, only that he was born in Lacombe, 11 Aug. 1910 and adopted by Earl A. & Clara Samantha Edwards. He was not adopted right away, maybe 2 yrs. but was with my ggrandparents from birth is the story. Every avenue we search turns up nothing. My ggrandparents lived I believe in the Moscow, Potlatch, Idaho area but adopted my grandfather in Lacombe area. Could anyone give me some clues where I might look? This may have to do with a son of a very prominent family of the Lacombe or Alberta area and a women of lesser status, possibly a house worker of some kind. Anything is greatly appreciated.

BIROS, MUDROCH Moon Lake, Alberta 1937 I have copies of three letters to my grandmother from her half brother John (Jan) Biros of Moon Lake, Alberta, Canada. They were all dated in 1937. All were written in Slovak. Moon Lake is a small community west of Edmonton a little south of Entwhistle and north of Drayton Valley. In one letter John states he is in his 40's . In it he mentions his brother Thomas who died on 31 Mar 1935 in Canada. He also mentions a brother Tony and a brother Palko. John says he is trying to bring the rest of his family to Canada. They are his wife (not named) a son Jurko age 17, a daughter Annie age 14 and another son Andrej (Andy) age 9. It appears John went to Canada in the mid 1930's. Possibly with his brother Thomas?? John's half sister (my grandmother) Zuzana Biros Mudroch came to the United States about 1906. I am having difficulty finding my grandmother Biros family. I would appreciate any help. We are trying to re-unite with a Canadian family. We knew John Johnston in Holland after the war. He was a Canadian soldier and we believe that he was from Winnipeg. We had a home address of 651 Sherbrook Street but mail to that address after the war was not answered. Mother's name was Joan Frances but she may have died before the war. In searching the City Directory, we note an Alex Johnston living at 651 Sherbrook Street in 1947 and wonder if he might have been related? We wonder if your office may be able to help us in this search. For example, can your records provide the date of death of any of these three individuals? Are there Death Announcement records that we could search if we don't know the date of death ? We thought that we might be able to learn of any family connections through information found in Obituaries.

I am writing in the hope that you may be able to offer me some advice and would be so grateful to you for any help you can give. I was born in January 1961 in Vancouver Hospital and am trying to trace my real parents, as I was adopted at the age of 9 months after being in a children's home in Vancouver. I was told that my real mother died during childbirth but understood later this was not the case and am desperate to locate them. I understand my father went to Manchester for a while and wonder if anyone may have any information on this at all. My name at birth was Lucille Josephine Oliver and I was born in January 1961. You see, my adopted parents died years ago and I would very much like to see one of my real parents as I am quite ill at the moment. I'd be so very grateful to anyone for any help at all on this. Thank you so much. God Bless Lucille

Andersen, Olds, Alberta, 1930 onwards. Hello, - I'm Danish and I'm looking for info about my great grandfathers brother Fritz Ludvig Andersen and his family in Canada. He lived in Olds from the 1930's after living in USA (Texas and Iowa) since before WW1. He was born on July 25th 1885 and christened on November 22nd in Nyborg, Denmark. He was confirmed on October 10th 1899, also in Nyborg, Denmark. His parents were Valdemar Simonsen Andersen (1843 - 1887 (Tuberculosis)) and Johanne Andersen, born Petersdatter/Petersen (1845 - 1937). His wifes name was Dusine (But may have been changed). According to a tape I have with my great grandfather from the late 1950's, he was a US soldier in WW1, and when the Germans occupied Denmark in 1940, I understand he signed up with 3 of his sons (Must have been for the Canadian Army). He had 4 or 5 children (4 sons and a daughter ?) of which one, according to the tape, died in Korea. With help from various people on Rootsweb, I have found a Frederik (Fred) Andersen from Olds who died in Korea in February 1951, and could be the son. Fritz' Danish family can be followed on my web-site www.valloe.com (It is not commercial !). I'd of course be happy to help anyone looking for Danish records if I can. Take care, Martin
